I had the great pleasure of working with Lance Koudele on a rebrand and site redesign for his photography work. Lance is not only one of the best photographers I've worked with, but one truly great individual. This site involves some fun technical goodies. You can navigate the portfolios with keyboard navigation, the primary navigation uses a 3D site transform, etc. And, it's all built on a responsive grid system to make sure his content is accessible to as many devices as possible.

I feel incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to brand and help launch such a great foundation as Rising From Ashes. Rising From Ashes started out as an amazing documentary film, highlighting the delivery of second chances through sport, specifically the bike. The first national cycling team was founded in Rwanda through the efforts of Jock Boyer, Tom Richie and many others. This foundation will continue to support the team, and is aiming to develop teams in Ethiopia and Eritrea. This is a work in progress, more to come soon.

I've been working on a rebrand of Owen Jones & Partners in Portland, Oregon—which included two office murals, some custom typography of the agency mantra, foil and letterpresses business cards, and various other secondary visual graphics.
XANGO, a natural juice company and also the jersey sponsor of Real Salt Lake, wanted to show their pride for sponsoring the team.
A big thanks to Kyle Beckerman, Nick Rimando and Jámison Olave for being willing to help us out with these.

As Executive Creative Director/Designer at Owen Jones & Partners I had the opportunity to design a new agency website. I either designed or directed all content development, visual design, and UI/UX of the site. I even shot the majority of the photography you see on the site. We utilized responsive design to deliver a beautiful site across devices.

Working with iFIT directly, I helped to create video workouts of the Boston Marathon course.
While training on your treadmill, users are able to run the entire marathon course. The workout videos are fully narrated, giving the runner facts about the course and training tips along the way. The treadmill interacts with the video content, adjusting both incline and decline with the course elevation, speed on the flats, and wind coming off the lake.

Ski Utah hosted a festival, which we helped name the Fat Flake Festival. These hand-screened, limited edition 3-color posters were rewarded with a copper ingot at the AIGA 100 show. I'm also showing some stickers we created for Ski Utah which got passed around via Powder Magazine and ultimately ended up on millions of chair lift poles and snowboards.

Creative DirectionUrban Airship is redefining how brands build mobile relationships with consumers through push messaging, Passbook tools, and more. And, some of the best brands have joined them, including CBS Interactive, ESPN, Groupon, NHL, Victoria Secret, Walgreens, Warner Bros and others. I was fortunate to lead a team at Owen Jones & Partners through a complete rebrand, and site design and development that included responsive web design, and upwards of 80% new content for the site launch. Since the launch, we've consistently helped with various project needs, including a kenetic type motion graphic video.

Cal Humanities had a few challenges—not the least of which was, “How do we explain what the humanities are?” In research we found that we never, ever got the same answer twice. Our strategy recommendation: “Don’t explain them, help people experience them.” We renamed the organization, gave them a new brand platform “A State of Open Mind”, helping to democratize and proliferate the best California-centric humanities experiences they can create, find, or enable through grants.

Working on a rebrand for a company associated with typography was a dream come true. If you've been in the design world for the past decade, you'd know them as the company with the font management product SuitCase.
Extensis has always loved typography—their branding just hasn't looked like it.

A few of the brand identities I've been a part of.
Jitasa is a group of bookkeepers and accountants that help nonprofits maintain their focus more on doing good, and less on the tasks that can bog them down, risking critical grant funding.
I was fortunate enough to work the good folks at Jitasa, before they were Jitasa. In fact, I helped navigate the seemingly scary task of renaming the organization. Jitasa is a Thai word for “the Spirit of Helping Others."

The biggest inspiration for this piece was Babies-R-Us. Seriously. While preparing for my son Owens birth we, like just about everyone else, walked around that store filled to the brim with over produced, glossy, and often tasteless stuff. I decided that I wanted to design a baby announcement counter to everything else in the world of babies. In this case, I wanted the piece to be masculine, celebrating the birth of a little man. That thought led me to use bold gold and black colors combined with the subtlety of a blind hit for the patterning, rather than the more typical childlike colors and themes. We were so happy with how it turned out. And, as always, the fine folks at The Mandate Press did a fantastic job.
Thanks to Oh So Beautiful Paper for featuring it on their site.
